* ANNEXATION -- The Henderson City Council voted Wednesday night to annex about 2,500 acres that will be developed by Del Webb Corp. Del Webb recently obtained the land in a swap with the federal Bureau of Land Management. It plans to build another Sun City senior citizen community, as well as other neighborhoods totaling 11,000 to 13,000 homes. As part of the annexation, Del Webb agreed to use 73 acres for parks and recreation facilities. The annexation in the southwest part of the city makes Henderson 5 percent larger.
* FATAL SHOOTING -- A 21-year-old man, shot while walking with a friend on Washington Avenue near D Street, died Wednesday from his injuries. Hector Zeja Ibarra of Las Vegas was shot once about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday by an someone in a passing car, Metro Police said. The car was described by witnesses as a late-model Chevrolet Camaro. It was last seen headed east on Washington, police said. Police have asked anyone with information to call homicide detectives at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
