Basic grabbed four of the top 10 spots and won the 4A boys' Zone cross country meet this past weekend at Indian Springs. Oliver Redig finished first in a time of 17:23.23 and teammates Rob Oslund, Scott DeVoge and Wes Kramer finished fourth, fifth and tenth, respectively. The Wolves (31) were followed by Silverado (74), Cheyenne (78), Bonanza (95), Cimarron-Memorial (153), Durango (177), Clark (187), Las Vegas (225), Green Valley (235), Vo-Tech (270), Bishop Gorman (275), Valley (331) and Mojave (340). In the 4A girls' competition, Cheyenne grabbed three of the top five places to win the crown. Green Valley's Abby Miller won the race in a time of 20:26.09 but the Cheyenne trio of Jessica Zarndt, Katie Bailey and Jessica Rafferty finished second, third and fifth. The Desert Shields scored 51 points and were followed by Green Valley (57), Basic (73), Cimarron (106), Clark (141), Silverado (148), Durango (186), Bonanza (237), Valley (260), Gorman (262), Eldorado (293), Chaparral (315), Vo-Tech (372) and Las Vegas (390). At the 3A boys' meet, Virgin Valley won the title with 32 points, Boulder City had 36 and Moapa Valley 52. David Andrade of Virgin Valley was the winner in a time of 19:26.47. In the 3A girls' competition, Moapa Valley won with 33 points, Boulder City was second with 37 and Virgin Valley had 53. Heather Conger of Moapa Valley won the race in a time of 23:09.70. Indian Springs captured the 1A/2A boys' title by scoring 23 points to outdistance Faith Lutheran (52) and Meadows (52). Dustin Belt of Indian Springs won the race in a time of 18:32.49. Faith Lutheran won the 1A /2A girls' title with 15 points. Shannon Wolff of Meadows was the individual winner in a time of 22:54.83.
