Detroit Vipers 3, Quebec Rafales 0
AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--The Detroit Vipers (5-4-3) outshot the Quebec Rafales (6-4-2) 38-18 on their way to a 3-0 win Sunday at The Palace. A crowd of 10,583 saw the Vipers move into a tie for second place in the IHL Northeast Division by knocking off the division leaders. Peter Ciavaglia put the Vipers on the board in the second period. Clayton Beddoes scored at 7:43 of the third, and assisted on a goal by Keith Aldridge just under four minutes later. Dan Kesa assisted on both third-period tallies. Johan Hedberg was in goal for the winners. Quebec's Frederick Deschesne finished with 35 saves.
Manitoba Moose 5, Orlando Solar Bears 2
WINNIPEG--After falling behind early, the Manitoba Moose (6-6-0) came up with four unanswered goals to defeat the Orlando Solar Bears (6-4-1) 5-1 Sunday at Winnipeg Arena. Greg Pankewicz scored at 10:09 of the second period to even the score at 2-2, then picked up his second assist of the game on Kent Fearns' game-winning tally at 16:42. Brad Purdie and Randy Gilhen scored in the third period to put the game out of reach. Scott Arneil also scored for Manitoba, in the fifth minute of the game. Both Orlando goals, by Pat Mikesch and Chris LiPuma, came in the first period. Goalie Rich Parent turned away 23 Orlando shots to post the win. Scott LaGrand suffered the loss despite a 35-save performance, as the Solar Bears were outshot 39-25.
