Second person dies from weekend accident

Four-car accident sends three to hospital
Just before midnight Friday, a 1983 Oldsmobile, driven by Sachie Ohia, 37, of Las Vegas, was stopped on Oakey Boulevard at Jones Boulevard. A 1996 Lexus, driven by Sherri Terry, 31, of Las Vegas, was stopped behind Ohia and near a parked 1988 Ford. A 1981 Honda, operated by 61-year-old Richard Minor of Las Vegas, rear-ended the Lexus, police said. The Lexus was pushed into the Oldsmobile, which hit the parked Ford.
Rio files to sell stock
The company will use the proceeds to reduce borrowing under a bank credit line that matures on June 30, 2001, according to a registration statement filed today. The credit line had $70 million outstanding at Sept. 30, 1997.
Former NLV mayor Seastrand dies
Seastrand, who served 16 years as mayor and six more as a councilman, collapsed Sunday night after speaking at a meeting of the Clark County chapter of the National Council of Christians and Jews at the Baha'i Center on Oakey Boulevard. He died at Columbia Sunrise Mountain View Hospital.

Rebel soccer beaten at Air Force
The 17th-ranked Air Force soccer team outshot UNLV 10-0 in the first half Sunday en route to a 4-2 victory at Colorado Springs. In one of the most unusual plays of this --or any -- season, Falcon goalie Rich Cullen scored a goal, booting the ball the length of the field and into the net as UNLV keeper Dan Abdulla let the ball bounce over his head. Daniel Schloss scored both goals for the Rebels, who slipped to 5-10-2, 2-4-1 in the WAC.

Both as an assemblywoman and later as a senator, she worked successfully to protect our environment. As governor, I could always count on her leadership abilities to promote legislation for open meetings, state parks, education and the protection of women, children and the handicapped.

Rebels in Miami finals
The 11th-ranked UNLV golf team moved into today's finals of the second annual Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships at Miami. Eight of the top men's teams in the nation are competing head-to-head using the match-play system. The second-seeded Rebels defeated USC 4-1 in the early match and then beat Texas Christian 3-2 to advance. UNLV will take on fourth-seeded Clemson today in the finals of the winner's bracket after the Tigers downed No. 1-seed Oklahoma State 3-2.

William Gilman, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in New York City. A 13-year resident, he was an aerospace engineer and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
