Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6:15 p.m.

Winston West gears up

Last year's Winston West event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway has sparked big interest in the June 6-7 Cactus Clash at LVMS.

According to Kevin Green, a spokesman for the NASCAR Winston West Series, the Las Vegas stop is generating strong interest from drivers as far away as Missouri and Texas.

Green said those who have expressed interest include veteran Winston Cup and ARCA driver H.B. Bailey of Houston, Tex., along with Sammy Potashnick, a Missouri driver who has run a limited ARCA schedule.

Last year's Winston West race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway drew one of the biggest crowds ever for a stand-alone Winston West event.

The Cactus Clash will also include the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour.

Busch's league

Kurt Busch, a freshman at the University of Arizona who graduated from Durango High School in 1996, captured the American Truck Series feature Saturday night at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif.

Busch also ran a Legends Car. He led the first 21 laps of the 25 lap main before being taken out in an accident. He finished fifth.
