African-American music to be celebrated in June

BLUES, 7 p.m. June 7. Join Lawrence T. as he performs music from W.C. Handy of the '20s, Bessie Smith of the '40s, T-Bone of the '50s, B.B. King of the '60s, Joe Williams and other musicians.

GOSPEL MUSIC, 7 p.m. June 14. Noted radio celebrity Rev. Sam Roberson discusses the history of gospel music and the Gaston 5 performs its various forms.

JAZZ, 7 p.m. June 21. Jimmy Wilkins and the New Life Orchestra perform selections from the big-band era, emphasizing the influence that the Duke Ellington and Count Basie orchestras had on the development of jazz music.
