Mother sues doctors on alleged misdiagnosis

In the lawsuit, Tamara Money said she took her then 8-year-old son, Joshua Daor, to Sunrise Hospital's emergency room in May of 1995 when the boy complained of sharp pain near his left knee.
She claims doctors concluded the boy had a malignant turmor treatable only by chemotherapy.
After the diagnosis the boy went through one round of intensive chemotherapy and the mother decided to get a second opinion before subjecting him to more of the uncomfortable treatment.
She said doctors refused to refer her for a second opinion and sent a letter to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline, claiming the boy would die without further treatment.
A Juvenile Hearing Master ordered a second opinion and it was later learned the boy had a cyst on his leg, not cancer.
The lawsuit seeks more than $10,000 in damages from nine doctors and three medical facilities involved.
