BLM To Trade With Del Webb for Kings Canyon Property

"The property in Kings Canyon - 1,880 acres - would go to the Forest Service for management," said Mike Dwyer, BLM Las Vegas District manager.
Dwyer said Kings Canyon, part of the Toiyabe National Forest, is viewed by the Forest Service as valuable for its water shed and recreation potential.
Del Webb officials will get 2,535 acres of public land identified as suitable for transfer into private ownership, located south of the Henderson Sky Harbor. The property, valued at $31.5 million, is in an area targeted by the development firm for additional construction.
Dwyer said developers plan to build a retirement community at the site similar to Sun City, Ariz., a popular resort near Phoenix.
