White Pine cities suffering financially

Gene Etcheverry of the Nevada Department of Taxation said tax assessment in those cities will be over the mandated property tax cap of $3.64 per $100 of assessed valuation, the Ely Daily Times reported.
"I don't mean to be Mr. Doom and Gloom here, but at this point there isn't much bright about the situation," he said.
Etcheverry said representatives of the local taxing districts need to meet and adjust their tax rates so that the combined total does not exceed the limit.
On a positive note, Etcheverry said White Pine County is one of 10 areas in the state that will share about $2 million of supplemental city-county relief money. White Pine likely will receive about $180,000, he said.
