Letter: NLV Homeowner chafing under city zoning rules
Friday, May 16, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
I have a fifth wheel parked on a cement slab, two 1971 Camaro Rally Sports cars which I am restoring -- one parked on a cement slab, licensed and insured, the other parked under the carport, covered and insured. I have a gas grill, an air conditioner, a couple of cabinets and building materials also under my carport. They are stacked up neatly, and most of it is covered. The city is taking me to court.
A year and a half ago, my home burned. Since that time, we have been working on the house. We are not completely done yet. We do what we can, where we can and when we can afford it.
With all the crime in this city, why do they harass citizens who are just trying to get by with what we have? We have put our home up for sale because, if we wanted to live in a third-world country, we would have moved there. What has happened to our constitutional rights? Do cities have the right to dictate to us as to what we cannot own or do on our own property?
