April 6 proclaimed Tartan Day

"I am happy to sign this bill in recognition of an important part of Nevada's heritage," Miller said Thursday.
Assembly Bill 362 establishes Tartan Day and recognizes the contributions of Scots to the development of America. Scottish immigrants were responsible for many of the Nevada's early mining operations.
Crowded into Miller's office were 22 Scots and Scottish Americans from six clan organizations and two Scottish cultural groups.
"We will celebrate April 6 every year in true Scots fashion," said J.J. MacDonald, a member of Clan Donald who attended the ceremony.
Also on hand were representatives from the North Lake Tahoe Lions Club, which will be sponsoring a Celtic festival this July.
