Where You Stand for May 14, 1997

I'd like to respond to a couple of negative comments regarding Ellen DeGeneres coming out. I think that most of these negative comments are one-sided and bigoted. We are in the '90s now and it's not wrong to love anybody. God says so in the Bible. We can love and love is great. There's been a couple of comments that say she's a degenerate. Well, no one said that she molested children. That would be degenerate. But to love someone is not degenerate, it's a beautiful thing and they should start looking at their own morals before they go around judging people.

A key prosecution witness says he saw Tim McVeigh behind the wheel of a Ryder rental truck. We wonder, is Tim McVeigh to the Ryder truck what O.J. was to the Ford Bronco? The famous - or infamous - midday ride of Orenthal J. Simpson put many a Ford in someone's future. So will there be a similar run on Ryder? Such are the trappings of fame.

I'm getting extremely tired of people who have moved here from another state and proceed to try to change Las Vegas - especially concerning the casinos and their locations. If they don't like it here, let them take their baggage - and that includes their kids - back where they came from.

I used to watch "Seinfeld" every week - the best show on television. I refuse to watch it anymore. These people are going to make $600,000 per episode. How many years would that take the average person to make? These coddled actors, they're spoiled brats that lucked out.
