Letter: Highway Patrol’s tow service was too quick for motorist

Wednesday, May 14, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.

As luck would have it, her left front tire blew out, disabling the vehicle. She then proceeded to edge right to the curb, out of traffic. After parking and locking the car, she went to summon help at the nearest convenience store only to find the phones out of order. She then trekked uphill to the Circle-K store for a working phone.

Now, the ironic thing about all this is from the time she left the car at 6:15 p.m. and my arrival at 7:15 to assist her, the NHP had already towed her car to Sunrise Towing all within one hour's time!

It makes me wonder just how much the NHP officers take was out of the $96 impound fee.

Thanks NHP for all the aggravation, worry and expense!
