Calgary took advantage of a two-out error by Stars shortstop Jorge Velandia and scored two unearned runs in the sixth inning to snap a 1-1 tie en route to a 6-2 victory Tuesday night. Las Vegas got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on Jim Tatum's solo home run, but the Cannons scored three times in the eighth off reliever Brian Drahman to seal the victory. Drahman has been pitching despite soreness in his side. ... Stars starter Heath Murray (1-3) had his best outing of the season, allowing only one earned run on eight hits, walking one and striking out four in seven innings. Murray also drove in the Stars' first run of the game with a single in the second inning. ... Tatum's homer was his sixth of the season, fourth in five games and extended his hitting streak to eight games. Tatum has homered in three straight games. ... Velandia has hit safely in seven straight and Doug Dascenzo has a six-game hitting streak. ... Calgary outfielder Mark Smith hit a solo home run to lead off the eighth inning and moved into a tie for the league lead in homers with 11.

In the third game of the series tonight at 7:05, Las Vegas will send right-hander Kerry Taylor (0-1, 9.00) to the mound to face Calgary left-hander Sean Lawrence (1-2, 4.88).
In Thursday's series finale, the Stars' Pete Smith (3-2, 4.41) will be opposed by the Cannons' Jimmy Anderson (0-1, 1.50) at 7:05 p.m.
