Judges to report on productivity
Wednesday, May 14, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
Family Court judges have scheduled a news conference Thursday to report attempts to increase their efficiency and ability to meet the needs of dysfunctional families.
Among the problems highlighted in the SUN's series on Family Court, which has been operating since 1993, are long delays in resolving cases, transferring guardianship of children without notification to parents and widespread belief that judges are biased against litigants based on gender.
The news conference will be at 1:15 in the courthouse atrium, 601 N. Pecos Road. The public is invited. However, judges are prohibited by law from talking about specific cases.
