REGION'S FUTURE -- Clark County Manager Dale Askew will discuss the opportunities and challenges that face Southern Nevada at Wednesday's 7:30 a.m. meeting of the Commercial Marketing Group in the upstairs meeting rooms of Palace Station.

FAIR HOUSING SEMINAR -- The Association of Real Estate License Law Officials will present a seminar on fair housing practices from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The seminar is brought to Nevada by the state Real Estate Division and is underwritten by the Real Estate Education and Research Fund.
The seminar will take place in the meeting room of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors, 1750 E. Sahara Ave. The cost is $10, which includes three hours of real estate continuing education in law and ethics. To register, call 732-8177.
CHAMBER LUNCHEON -- The Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation will introduce its initial project, Nevada's first nonprofit "business incubator," at Thursday's noon luncheon at Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center, 5710 Mountain Vista Road.
The foundation's business incubator, to be called the Henderson Business Resource Center, is designed to provide facilities and support for new small businesses. It brings together the resources and expertise of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, UNLV, Community College of Southern Nevada and the Clark County School District under one roof. Its purpose is to increase opportunities for small business success.
Reporting on the status of the business incubator will be chamber President Tim O'Callaghan and foundation committee chairs Reva Anderson (communications), Sharolyn Craft (education), John Flaherty (facility) and Ann Barron (finance).

SAFETY MEETING -- The American Society of Safety Engineers, Southern Nevada Chapter 89, will meet at 7:30 a.m. Friday in the cafeteria of the Jean Hanna Clark Rehabilitation Center, 1001 Shadow Lane.
The chapter also plans a seminar, "Industrial Hygiene for the Safety Professional," for May 28-29 at the Stardust hotel-casino. For registration, call Vann Lloyd, 228-9881, or Sam Lybarger, 399-7373.
GAMING PRESENTATION -- Shannon Bybee, executive director of the UNLV International Gaming Institute, will be the keynote speaker at Friday's 7 p.m. dinner of the Southern Nevada Management Society/BYU Communications Society at Nevada Power Co., 6226 W. Sahara Ave.
Bybee, an attorney, director of the Claridge Casino and president of the Nevada Council of Problem Gaming, will speak on "Las Vegas: Gaming, Economics, Consequences." A question-and-answer period will follow.
The presentation is designed to define the role that gaming plays in present-day Las Vegas and to profile the trends in the industry and in the Nevada economy. Steps being taken to assist the problem gambler will be detailed.

ESTIMATING COURSE -- Estimating will be the next topic covered in the Graduate Builders Institute series, sponsored by UNLV's Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association.
The class will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in Room 113 of Beam Hall. The course instructor will be Leon Rogers from Brigham Young University.
