Church seeks BLM land for school
Monday, May 12, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
Bishop Manogue High School is eyeing the land currently owned by the Bureau of Land Management for a new campus.
But opponents argue the property on the south side of Rattlesnake Mountain should be left as open space.
Before the school can buy the land, Washoe County must first relinquish its hold on it.
The county parks commission has already denied Manogue's request. But school administrators are appealing that decision to the Washoe County Commission.
County commissioners were scheduled to consider the appeal when they meet on Tuesday.
