StumbleChild dies after being pulled from river

The little girl did not respond to emergency treatment, either at the scene or at Washoe Medical Center. She was pronounced dead some three hours after being pulled from a snag near Fishermen's Park off Kuenzli Street.
The child's mother, who is from India, said she was trying to bathe the child and lost her grip.
Conversation was difficult and the confusion initially slowed rescue efforts. Police said the mother gave conflicting stories.
