Faiss, a partner in the law firm of Lionel Sawyer and Collins, was named by the journal as "the nation's premier gaming attorney."
He is the first Nevadan and the first gaming lawyer to be selected for the prestigious list, which has been published by the National Law Journal every three years since 1985.
The Journal said Faiss has played a part in writing, negotiating or testifying for every major amendment to Nevada gaming statutes for the past 25 years. He has been adviser to various governments in writing gaming laws, and was recently selected by the city of Detroit as special gaming counsel in the creation of that city's gaming control system.
Others making the most influential list include U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, consumer advocate Ralph Nader and Whitewater independent counsel Kenneth Starr.
