Commissioners support highway widening plan
Monday, May 5, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
Commissioners urged the Nevada Department of Transportation to widen U.S. Highway 50 from Dayton to Silver Springs, and U.S. Highway 50 Alternate from Fernley to Fallon.
Plans call for both stretches to be widened from two to four lanes.
"The highways already exceed the roadway limit count" for two lanes, Commissioner LeRoy Goodman said, adding growth at the Fallon Naval Air Station is generating more traffic.
NDOT officials are hoping the county can chip in for the projects, but funding wasn't discussed by commissioners.
