Friday, March 28, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
The talk will air the morning of April 7 during a "Today" broadcast from Las Vegas.
"How I Got Cultured," published by the University of Nevada Press ($12.95), tells of her strict childhood in the '40s and '50s. She felt sequestered on the edge of an exciting world, and the book details her early search for artistic satisfaction.
She won several awards for the volume, including the Associated Writing Program's Award for Creative Nonfiction and Best Autobiography honors from the Association for Mormon Letters.
Barber currently lives in Colorado, and has written two other books, "And the Desert Shall Bloom," and "The School of Love."
