Ex-governor List’s mother dies at 87

CARSON CITY -- Alice Allegra Dove List, mother of former Gov. Bob List, died Thursday in a Carson City care center. She was 87.
She, her husband, Frank, and their three children moved to Carson City in 1951 from Exeter, Calif.
She helped established the Carson City Junior Ski Program in 1955 and served on the Carson City Parks and Recreation Board from 1959 when it was created until 1979. She was active in Boy Scouts and was nominated as the Nevada Mother of the Year in 1983.
The family was in the ranching business and she served as its bookkeeper-treasurer.
She was born March 23, 1910, in Hamilton, Kan., attended College of Emporia in Kansas and graduated from Pomona Business College in California in 1929.
She married Frank List in September 1931. Survivors include her husband, who still lives on the ranch in Washoe Valley; sons Bob of Reno and Alan of Lovelock; a daughter, Bonnie List Sutphin of Saratoga, Calif; a sister, Dorothy Dove Kreps of San Juan Capistrano, Calif; a brother, Dr. Robert Dove of Morro Bay, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City.
