Williams’ classic play will come to area theater

"The Glass Menagerie" is autobiographical; Tom Wingfield, the play's narrator, represents Williams himself as a restless young man. The struggling family he introduces is distilled from the playwright's own.
"The Glass Menagerie" will travel to 50 towns and cities across America as one of three productions in the Acting Company's 1997 touring repertory.
The Acting Company was created in 1972 by producing director Margot Harley and the late John Houseman out of the first graduating class from the Juilliard School Drama Division. Under Harley's leadership, the Acting Company continues its association with the Juilliard School. This season's touring ensemble is made up of actors recently graduated from America's leading conservatories, as well as actors drawn from resident theaters across the country.
The Nicholas Horn Theater is at 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave. Tickets are $15, $10 for students and seniors. For reservations, call 651-LIVE.
