Science programs, workshops prepared for Lied museum
Friday, March 21, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
Science Month activities are sponsored by a grant from Wells Fargo.
Activities kick off during school spring break, Saturday through March 30, with daily workshops and demonstrations featuring sound-wave exhibit tours, simple string-and-cup phone technology, secret-code rings and several science workshops for preschoolers and parents.
Additional weekend workshops in April continue to focus on science, leading into National Science and Technology Week, April 21-27.
This is the second year the museum has been designated the official state site for the program, which is coordinated through the National Science Foundation to promote science awareness and appreciation in children.
The museum will distribute educational materials prepared by the foundation and present training workshops developed for teachers, parents and youth group educators that provide resource materials and information about hands-on activities.
This year's NSTW theme is "Webs, Wires and Waves: The Science and Technology of Communication."
The museum will be open on Easter, March 30.
For information about Science Month activities, call 382-3445.
