A major stage production coming to New York-New York will feature actual New York City street performers.
"MADhattan" is scheduled to debut at the local hotel-casino in mid-June as the Strip resort's signature production, the show's producer, Kenneth Feld, said at a Wednesday news conference in New York.
The show, featuring entertainers gleaned from busy Big Apple sidewalks and bustling Manhattan subways, is in rehearsal at the Schimmel Downtown Theater at PACE University. It is scheduled start rehearsals in Las Vegas on April 9.
"It will take the audience on a journey ... through the heart and soul of the New York City underground," Feld said in a news release.
"The 90-minute production will present a living collage of the sights and sounds of the streets of New York during rush hour."
The show is directed by Danny Herman. The musical director is Jonathan Brielle.
"The artists ... are accustomed to performing alone, but they have found a new energy working together," Herman said. "What is going on is a total collaborative effort."
The show will feature original music and will be accompanied by a five-piece band.
The price of tickets for the show was not released.
Feld Entertainment Inc. also produces the Siegfried & Roy show at The Mirage and the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, among others.
