Local attorney Nancy Estabrook has been arrested and charged with drug possession and trafficking of a controlled substance, Metro Police said.
Estabrook was arrested early Wednesday and booked at 5:55 a.m. as Nancy Dandy, her maiden name.
She was charged with trafficking heroin and possession of marijuana. She was being held on $13,000 bail at the Clark County Detention Center, but was later released on her own recognizance, a jail spokeswoman said.
Estabrook, 31, was set to appear before Justice of the Peace Doug Smith on April 2 for arraignment.
Estabrook was admitted to the Nevada bar in 1991 and is listed in good standing, a State Bar spokeswoman said. She holds bachelor's and law degrees from the University of San Diego, where she graduated from law school in 1991.
She practices law at her own firm at 600 S. Seventh St.
A telephone call to Estabrook's law office was not returned.
Patrol officers were called about 5 a.m. by a resident to an apartment at 3168 S. Eastern Ave., near Desert Inn Road, about a possible prowler, police said. But the officers instead arrested Estabrook and an unidentified woman at another apartment in the complex in an unrelated incident. The circumstances surrounding the arrest were not available.
