Tuesday, March 4, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
TCU was behind 59-56 with 3:00 left in the game before going on a 12-0 run that ended both Wyoming's season and Joby Wright's four years as head coach of the Cowboys.
TCU had trailed by as many as 15 points midway through the second half before going on a 19-4 run that tied the game at 53 apiece with 6:40 left.
The Horned Frogs briefly took the lead at 56-55, but trailed 59-56 before Malcolm Johnson started the final winning streak with a jumper with 2:40 left in the game.
By the time H.L. Coleman broke the scoring streak with a basket with 23.6 seconds left, TCU had a 68-61 lead and the game had already been decided.
Damion Walker added 19 points for TCU while Malcolm Johnson had 16, including 14 in the second half. Coleman had 20 for the Cowboys and Jeron Roberts added 19.
The win moves TCU (19-11) into a second round game Thursday against Fresno State.
Wyoming, which announced Wright's resignation on Monday, finished the season 12-16.
