No legislation to punish Clark County Commission chairwoman

Assemblyman Richard Perkins, Speaker Joe Dini's majority leader, added Monday outbursts by some legislators last week helped clear the air so they can work with local Clark County leaders on better roads, schools, water and sewer systems.
Reports of an anti-Atkinson Gates bill surfaced last week, a day after Assemblyman David Goldwater, D-Las Vegas, blasted her for not coming forward with a plan to pay for the county's infrastructure needs. But Goldwater said he wasn't the source of the proposal.
Atkinson Gates said she intends to testify Friday when Goldwater's Committee on Infrastructure meets at Lake Mead.
"We have a golden opportunity to come up with a solution to our infrastructure needs," she said. "All we have to do is set our egos aside. It appears to me we should work together to come up with a solution."
Because of the friction with Goldwater, Atkinson Gates said she will not make any formal proposals for tax increases to pay for growth requirements.
Instead, she and other commissioners will request that all local governments work with the Legislature to resolve infrastructure needs.
