Letter: Residents asked to obey fire lane parking bans
Tuesday, March 4, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
All fire lanes within the city limits are designated by the city of Las Vegas Fire Prevention Division. Property owners are required to post the fire lane with red curbs and signs that say "No Parking Fire Lane." Once the fire lane is properly posted, the location of the fire lane is sent to the Las Vegas Parking Enforcement Division. The Parking Enforcement Division, along with the Fire Prevention Division, actively enforce the fire lanes, seven days a week, all year round. The fine for parking in a fire lane is $100.
The best thing to do is not to stop or park along the red curb. The area is designated to keep traffic flowing in case emergency vehicles need to access the area. We ask all citizens of Las Vegas to please observe htese fire lanes; it could make the difference in the amount of property loss or saving lives in an emergency.
If there is a particular area where people are abusing fire lanes, we ask for your help. You can call the Las Vegas Fire Department Fire Prevention Division at 383-2888 or the Las Vegas Parking Enforcement Division at 229-6431. Your safety is our main concern, and, if you see a problem or potential problem, we encourage your input.
