Razor Career Highlights

Donovan "Razor" Ruddock had one of the most feared left hooks in boxing. Poised to challenge for the heavyweight title, Ruddock, who was born in Jamaica and grew up in Toronto, instead got sidetracked by personal problems.

Here are some highlights of his career, in and out of the ring:

July 2, 1989 - Knocked out James "Bonecrusher" Smith in seventh round.

April 4, 1990 - Knocked out Michael Dokes in fourth round.

March 18, 1991 - Defeated by Mike Tyson in seventh round in controversial TKO.

June 28, 1991 - Defeated by Mike Tyson in a 12-round decision. Sustained broken jaw but finished fight.

Oct. 31, 1991 - Upset by Lennox Lewis in a second-round knockout. The winner was to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Feb. 2, 1995 - Despite earning nearly $10 million for the Tyson fights and $1 million for the Lewis bout, Ruddock files for bankruptcy.

June 10, 1995 - Ruddock is stopped in sixth round by Tommy Morrison. He is then unsuccessfully sued by his brother and manager, Delroy Ruddock, and promoter Murad Mohammad in contract dispute following fight.

Dec. 1, 1996 - Alexandra Williams, Ruddock's former girlfriend and mother of his 3-year-old son, Shaka, tells police the boxer assaulted her and took a $5,000 diamond ring from her finger. Ruddock gave her the ring in 1992.

April 1, 1997 - Turns himself into police and is charged with robbery for taking the ring.
