Chavez defeats LaCoursiere

Decision: Chavez wins his 100th career fight on an unianimous decision. One judge scores the fight 100-89 and the other two judge the bout 99-90 in favor of Chavez. LaCoursiere went the distance in defeat, dropping his career record to 22-7-1. With the win, Chavez, arguably the best all time in his division, is rumored for a showdown with fellow Mexican Miquel Angel Gonzalez.
Round 10:The final round of the bout. The only way LaCoursiere can win is through a knockout. Chavez lands an over-hand right that shakes up LaCoursiere. Chavez lands a combination to the bloody face of LaCoursiere with under a minute left. Chavez is finishing off strong, tiring to end in style.
Round 9: Chavez is very aggressive as he attempts to end the fight. Chavez has no knockout power. Head butt warning is given to LaCoursiere. Combination to the head by LaCoursiere as he continues to back pedal. Chavez is picking up the pace, but nothing will bring down LaCoursiere. Chavez gave LaCoursiere takes a beating in this round.
Round 8: LaCoursiere is avoiding Chavez, just trying to survive. LaCoursiere lands a double left hook that looked good but did no damage. Chavez responds with a jab to the side of the head. LaCoursiere lands a jab to the head. Left upper cut by Chavez to the body of LaCoursiere. Another round like the others with limited action.
Round 7: LaCoursiere is tiring. Chavez lands another right hand and is appyling pressure. Chavez with a hook to the side. Great combination to the head by Chavez. LaCoursiere is taking a lot of punches and is taking a beating. Chavez lands a right hook to the side of LaCoursiere's face. Chavez can't finish him off.
Round 6: Chavez comes out a little more aggressive and is throwing more punches. Blood is on the right eye of Chavez. LaCoursiere has a bloody nose and the right eyebrow of Chavez is cut. Chavez's eye looks just like his bout with De La Hoya. Chavez lands a straight right head, then a combination to the head.
Round 5: Chavez has clearly won all four rounds and is in control. Chavez is working on the nose and is putting together several combinations. LaCoursiere lands a upper cut that went under Chavez's defense. Chavez, showing his age, is taking his time.
Round 4: Chavez lands a right hand that floors LaCoursiere at the 2:30 mark of the round. LaCoursiere gets up and buys time to regroup from the blow. LaCoursiere seems to be fine. Chavez lands a weak right hand tothe head. Chavez misses wide on a blow. LaCoursiere returns with an impressive combination. Chavez witht two straight jabs. Each fighter receives a low blow warning. LaCoursiere has a bloody nose.
Round 3: LaCoursiere lands a shot under the belt of Chavez. The fighters are locked up a few times, but split up by referee Joe Cortez. chavez is not wasting wasting throwing many punches. LaCoursiere lands the biggest punch of the fight to the head. Thefans continue to show their displeasure as the rounds ends.
Round 2:LaCoursiere lands a weak shot to the body. Very little action as both fighters are moving around in circles. Chavez lands a combination to the head. LaCoursiere gets a hit or two in on Chavez, then steps back and dances around. Chavez lands a shot to the jaw to end the round. The crowd is booing because of the lack of action.
Round 1:Chavez, the legendary Mexican fighter, is going for his 100th career win against LaCoursiere in a tune up bout for a showdown with Miquel Angel Gonzalez. Chavez, a typical slow starter, comes out with quick jab. Both fighters are feeling each other out. LaCoursiere misses with two upper cuts. Chavez lands a shot to the body and head. A very slow first round. Neither fighter lands anything that hurt the other.
