Vessels theme for Key’s sculptures
Friday, June 27, 1997 | 11:17 a.m.
Key's use of the vessel form, which historically crosses all cultural boundaries in its reference to human presence, explores many technological and environmental issues affecting everyday life.
Organic in structure, Key's sculptures contain no toxic materials because of his own health and political reasons. The interior spaces of the work are often left visible, exposing a skeleton-like structure. Wall pieces, as well as large, standing sculptures are represented in this exhibition.
Key earned his master's of fine arts at San Francisco Art Institute.
This exhibit is presented by Cultural and Community Affairs Division of the City of Las Vegas Department of Parks and Leisure Activities. Gallery hours are 1-9 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
