Three more local high school players drafted

Three more local high school players have been picked up in this week's Major League Baseball amateur draft. Cheyenne outfielder Josh Laidlaw was taken in the 40th round by the Montreal Expos, Bishop Gorman left-handed pitcher Matt Smith went in the 44th round to the Chicago White Sox and Green Valley shortstop Bobby Pierce was the 60th-round choice of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Last month, Smith signed with Oklahoma State and Pierce with UNLV.
