StumbleLarry Thomas named Green Vallley High coach

Larry Thomas has been named Green Valley High School's new head boys' basketball coach. Thomas, 50, replaces Gene Carpenter, who opted not to return next season. The Gators were 16-12 last season under Carpenter. For Thomas, it marks a return to basketball after a two-year hiatus -- he was an assistant at Green Valley during the 1994-95 season and was Chaparral's head coach during the 1990-91 season. Thomas also is Green Valley's head football coach. "I'm looking forward to it," Thomas said. "It'll be a busy challenge."
