Irish Cabaret Night to come to Las Vegas

Friday, June 6, 1997 | 5:47 a.m.

The New York Times christened Cooney "Irish America's Native Son." One of nine children in a deeply-rooted Irish family, he was winging at the age of five for parties and church gatherings.

Cooney is a veteran of seven years touring with the Paddy Noonan show that has played here several times. He has five solo albums plus a duet album with the world-famous Irish composer and recording artist Phil Coulter.

Featured with Cooney and his band in the current touring show is Dubliner Catherine Coates, premier dancer Joanna Barry and musical director Noel Healy. All three have been featured for years in Ireland's famed Jury's Cabaret. The program will include musical themes from "Riverdance," performed by Barry with Healy's accompaniment.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance or at the door at Arizona Charlie's.
