Dan Branscum of Henderson took the early lead in the prestigious Red Man-All-American Bass Championship Thursday at Pine Bluff, Ark. He landed five bass with a catch totaling 14 pounds, 7 ounces. The anglers are competing for a share of the $250,000 purse and $100,000 first prize. The field will be cut to the top 10 contestants at the conclusion of today's weigh-in on the Arksansas River. The final round is scheduled Saturday.
