Burning itch? Aquatic parasite in Lake Mead may be the cause
Friday, June 6, 1997 | 5:47 a.m.
National Park Service spokeswoman Karen Whitney says the problem is not life-threatening, but can cause some discomfort.
She says the park service will make information available to Lake Mead visitors about symptoms and precautions they can take to reduce the risk of coming in contact with the parasite.
The incidents have been reported by swimmers in Boxcar Cove, Rotary Cove and Burro Point.
