AG stops repair service

Friday, June 6, 1997 | 5:47 a.m.

CARSON CITY -- Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa said a preliminary injunction has been issued against Fords Only, an auto repair shop in Las Vegas accused of deceptive business practices.

The attorney general's office filed suit against the company last October, but Del Papa said Fords Only continued to mislead the public.

Owners George W. Coleman and David Clark, both of Las Vegas, are accused of failing to provide goods and services within a reasonable time, misrepresenting the repair and replacement of parts and failing to inform customers they are entitled to a written estimate of repairs.

The original suit was filed after seven complaints were received in a four-month period. Since that time, Fords Only was evicted from its facility on East Carey Avenue. Del Papa said the injunction prohibits the owners from conducting business at any other location without the proper business license.
