10-year-old fined for writing in concrete

The sentence for Jeremy Anderson was handed down Friday by Juvenile Hearing Master Sylvia Beller.
The boy was originally charged with a felony after he was taken from his school classroom and later strip-searched at a juvenile facility.
The treatment angered his mother, Barbara Anderson, who said she should have been notified by school officials of the boy's arrest.
Last month, the youngster entered a no contest plea to a reduced charge of gross misdemeanor.
The $100 has been paid to the Plasters and Masons Union, which voluntarily repaired the sidewalk in a new subdivision, where Jeremy had scribbled "Jeremy," "Jeremy's cool," "Snoopy," and "Snoopy's cool" in foot-high letters.
Jeremy said a construction worker asked him if he wanted to write his name in the wet concrete. After the worker left, Jeremy went to work.
Asked Friday if he would do it again if invited to do so, he said no, explaining he didn't want to face the hassle he's experienced the past six months.
The family's attorney, Robert Kossack, said lawsuits are being weighed against Las Vegas Metro Police, the Clark County School District and the construction company, which originally pressed charges, then asked that they be dropped.
