Letter: People no longer have control of state politics

Tuesday, June 3, 1997 | 11:32 a.m.

We should let the casinos and builders just publish the conditions we are to live by and discontinue the hype of elections.

When a member of our so-called Legislature is actually berated for suggesting that the casinos and builders help pay for the mess they have created, it is an indication, clearly, of how the people have lost control. As a dues-paying union member for 40 years, I deeply resent the union as such endorsing the sales tax raise - I thought they were supposed to be for the people.

I hope to see the day when people have seen the day and have "had enough" and will organize to the task of taking control of their own lives.
