Extradition hearing rescheduled for teen accused of casino murder
Monday, June 2, 1997 | 11:59 a.m.
Jeremy Joseph Strohmeyer, 18, appeared briefly before Judge Michael Kellogg as the hearing was rescheduled for 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, a Municipal Court clerk said.
Strohmeyer is expected to say whether or not he will fight extradition to Nevada, where a fugitive warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Defense attorney Leslie Abramson was in another court and was not able to appear, so a public defender was asked to stand in for the rescheduling, the clerk said.
Strohmeyer, of Long Beach, was arrested Wednesday. Nevada police said he confessed to killing Sherrice Iverson.
The 7-year-old girl from South Central Los Angeles had been playing in the casino arcade in the early morning hours of May 25. Her body was found in a casino toilet stall about 5 a.m. She had been raped and strangled.
Strohmeyer originally said he would not fight extradition, but then said he had changed his mind.
