A Clark County firefighter was injured in a mobile home fire that investigators say was of "suspicious origin."
Firefighters responded Thursday at 10 a.m. to 3751 S. Nellis Blvd., where a double-wide home in the Pueblo Del Sol Mobile Home Park was fully engulfed in flames. The home could not be saved. Flames gutted the structure, causing $25,000 in damages, said Clark County Fire Department spokesman Steve La-Sky.
The home had just been repossessed the day before, La-Sky said. He said investigators regard the blaze as suspicious and are continuing to look into it. No one was in the home at the time of the fire.
Firefighter Paul Young, 41, an engineer whose main job is driving the truck and working its panels, was assisting fellow firefighters on the hose line when suddenly the flames turned some of the water into steam, which lashed back onto his face.
who received second-degree burns, was treated at a University Medical Center Quick Care facility. Although his face blistered and he will be off duty for awhile, he is expected to fully recover, La-Sky said.
