I cannot believe that even after showing the Legislature proof that state correctional officers' pay lags behind pay for Metro, North Las Vegas and Nye County by about 20 percent, and that the No. 1 reason that state correctional officers leave to go to these other agencies is pay, that the Legislature is either so stupid or so blind that they want to give a token 3 percent raise (which works out to a 1.5 percent raise after they raised the retirement contributions).
What this Legislature did was a disservice not only to all state correctional officers, but to all state workers in general, and give us a slap in the face.
None of the current legislators will be getting my vote should they decide to run again for office.
