Circus Circus Enterprises has donated $15,000 to help rebuild the "Magical Forest" holiday display that drew 175,000 people last year. The display raised some $350,000 for Opportunity Village, which provides work training and employment placement for hundreds of disabled adults.
Thousands of lights and decorations were stolen or destroyed by vandals early Wednesday. Santa's Castle, a major attraction at the annual display, was demolished and sprinklers for 300 trees were destroyed. Animation equipment was reported missing.
The vandals smashed an animal shelter in the display, stole a sound system and trashed the area with cans of paint.
Local residents and businesses have offered paint, concrete and materials to help with repairs. Inmates from the Clark County Detention Center and other volunteers will help rebuild the display.
A security company plans to install motion detectors and lighting at the center.
