The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the time for the public to comment on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's final biological opinion on the Lower Colorado River, including Southern Nevada.
The original deadline was July 11. Comments may be submitted until July 25 under the extension.
The opinion has been adopted by the Bureau of Reclamation to operate Hoover Dam to protect endangered species and their habitat.
Public comments will be used during plans for the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program to protect more than 100 species extending from Lake Mead to below Yuma, Ariz.
At the same time, the long-term plan will allow the bureau to continue delivering water and power in the Southwest.
