Friday, July 18, 1997 | 9:11 a.m.

He claims in documents filed in District Court that public disclosure should put an end to threats of lawsuits.

Woodbury's brief was in response to an objection by Spring Creek resident Ed Presley to Elko District Judge Mike Memeo's order to make the transcripts public.

Memeo ordered the transcripts prepared and delivered to Reno attorney Rich Elmore, who is representing three Nevada Division of Wildlife employees accused of committing oppression under the color of office.

Presley, a public lands advocate and legal researcher objected to the release of the documents claiming state and federal officials may extract retribution against witnesses, causing a "chilling" effect on future witnesses before the grand jury.

Memeo revised his order after Presley's objection, ordering the transcripts kept from the public, but still delivered to Elmore, the Elko Daily Free Press reported.
