Washoe County Assistant District Attorney John Helzer said his office probably made a mistake by offering a plea agreement to Robert H. Jennings in 1994 when there was a different district attorney in office.
Jennings was arrested on Sunday and booked on four counts of robbery, two counts of crimes against the elderly and two counts of burglary for incidents that occurred since June 26.
The Reno Gazette-Journal on Tuesday reported that a court file includes a 12-page criminal history on Jennings, with arrests dating back to the early 1970s.
