TUCSON, Ariz. -- Former Las Vegas Star Jarvis Brown drove in a pair of runs and second baseman Fernando Vina collected three hits to lead the Tucson Toros to a 6-2 Pacific Coast League victory over the Stars Monday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Brown, who played for the Stars in 1993, singled and scored a run in the Toros' three-run first inning and added a sacrifice fly in the second as Tucson jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Brown also had an RBI single in Tucson's two-run fourth.
Vina, the Milwaukee Brewers' second baseman who is with Tucson on a rehabilitation assignment, was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
After Tucson took a 4-0 lead, the Stars got a run in the fourth as Stoney Briggs singled, stole second and continued to third on a throwing error by Tucson catcher Creighton Gubanich. Briggs scored on a groundout by Derek G. Lee.
Tucson increased its lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth and the Stars scored their final run in the fifth when Steve Scarsone, who reached on an error, scored on a double by Charles Poe.
Paul Menhart lost his fourth straight decision since joining the Stars and dropped to 4-11. The right-hander allowed six runs on nine hits in six innings.
Greg Hansell (2-2) made an emergency start out of the bullpen for the Toros and picked up the win. Jeff Huber tossed four scoreless innings in relief and earned his fourth save.
