Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 43-year-old woman missing for the past two weeks.
Sandra Gallegos was reported missing by her boyfriend Jan. 17 after failing to return to their apartment in eastern Las Vegas at the 900 block of Snug Harbor Street, where the man is now caring for the woman's 13-year-old son.
The boyfriend, whose name has not been released, told police Gallegos was going to the store. Investigators have since learned that the woman was last seen at the state assistance office at Owens Avenue and H Street.
Her car, a gold 1984 Renault four-door, bearing Nevada license 053HFE, was recovered abandoned on Jan. 23 at Hassel Avenue and La Salle Street in West Las Vegas. The vehicle had some damage and was operational, but there was no immediate evidence of foul play, said Lt. Craig Klatt of Metro's Crimes Against Youth and Family section.
Gallegos is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 4, 120 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and no distinguishing marks.
Anyone with information on Gallegos' whereabouts is asked to call Metro Police at 229-3111 or Secret Witness, 385-5555.
