BOSTON RED SOX-Agreed to terms with 2B Jeff Frye on a one-year contract.
DETROIT TIGERS-Named Alan Trammell assistant to baseball operations. Agreed to terms with RHP Willie Blair, RHP John Rosengren, RHP Todd Jones and C Matt Walbeck on one-year contracts.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS-Agreed to terms with 1B Bob Hamelin on a one-year contract.
MILWAUKEE BREWERS-Agreed to terms with RHP Cal Eldred on a three-year contract and OF Matt Mieske on a one-year contract.
OAKLAND ATHLETICS-Agreed to terms with 2B Brent Gates on a one-year contract.
SEATTLE MARINERS-Named Orlando Gomez manager and Steve Peck pitching coach for Everett of the Northwest League. Named Darrin Garner manager and Gary Wheelock pitching coach for Peoria of the Midwest League.
TEXAS RANGERS-Agreed to terms with RHP Roger Pavlik on a one-year contract.
